GWO Training Committee Chair Ann Duedahl highlights the importance of expanding the availability of BTT and other training standards
Basic Technical Training increased to almost 10% of all modules uploaded to WINDA in 2024, and member companies are now calling for the newer additions to be more widely available from GWO training providers.
BTT Bolt Tightening was added to the standard in late 2023, with the network training more than 4000 people in this crucial module during the last year. Around a quarter of these courses were completed in the USA, where 15 training centres now offer the BTTB module.
Ann Duedahl, Chair of the GWO Training Committee and Global Learning Leader, GE Renewable Energy, explained:
As an employer, we seek partnerships with independent training providers who are able to deliver all of the relevant modules and standards of the Entry Level Framework. One of the key recent additions to the ELF is Bolt Tightening, which provides our technicians with a solid foundation on the torque and tensioning skills needed to work with components safely and effectively. It is great to see how many more training providers have added this module in 2024, and we hope to see more availability of this and other GWO standards in future.
