GWO Members Elect New Board of Directors

Global Wind Organisation, the renewable energy training standards and workforce development body, has elected a new Board of Directors to lead the association and approve its overall strategy.

The newly constituted board comprises eleven representatives from across the GWO membership of OEMs and renewable energy developer companies.

John Barrie, Global Head of Training at Vestas, has been re-elected as Chair of the Board for a further two year term, supported by Eloy Jáuregui of Acciona as Vice Chair who was also re-elected until 2026.

Several new representatives have joined the board. They are: Ørsted’s Head of Central Supplier QHSE, Sebastian Von Lueders; Elena Caja, HSSEQ Director of Ocean Winds; Dennis Elsberg, Vice President of HSQE at independent renewables developer RES Group, and Marko Ladehoff, Global Head of HSE at Germany’s BayWa r.e.

John Barrie, Chair of the GWO Board of Directors, said:

I would like to thank all of our members for their continuing commitment to GWO. The General Assembly is the highest authority at GWO and as Board members, we are grateful for the trust placed in us by these 31 leading OEMs and renewable energy developers. At today's AGM, we were given a clear direction by the Assembly that the current mission and strategy to enable a safer energy transition as the globally leading body for standardised training and workforce development, has the support of our industry and we look forward to supporting the secretariat in delivering change on their behalf.

John also gave thanks to those Board members who have now reached the end of their terms.

Jesper Bagge Hansen of Ørsted departs following six years with us, primarily as Audit & Compliance Committee Chair. His commitment and dedication have been second to none and I speak on behalf of us all that he will be missed. The same can also be said of Wesley Witt (Formerly North America Chair), Rachel Porto (formerly A&C Vice Chair) and Ma Chun Ling, Goldwind (formerly China Committee Chair). Thank you to all.
