GWO Members elect new Board

Global Wind Organisation, the non-profit body representing windpower owners and manufacturers, is pleased to announce the election of a new Board of Directors, following its Annual General Meeting (AGM).

The GWO Board of Directors is elected by the General Assembly for a term of two years, with a remit to provide leadership for the association and approve the overall strategy. Now elected, the Board has constituted itself in accordance with the Articles of Association.

The board appointed John Barrie, Global Head of Training at Vestas as Chair, supported by Eloy Jauregui, Director of Safety at ACCIONA Energia as Vice-Chair.

The board members have also constituted themselves to fill several positions responsible for leading GWO's committees covering Training, Audit & Compliance, plus regional committees in China and North America.

John Barrie, Chair of the GWO Board of Directors said:

"I would like to thank my fellow members both of the General Assembly and the Board of Directors for their faith and continued support. Having worked closely with GWO for several years, I look forward to this new opportunity to collaborate with my colleagues and peers, so we ensure this association delivers the maximum value for our industry. Together we aim to create the conditions for a safe and productive workforce that can build our renewable future."

Eloy Jauregui, Vice-Chair of the GWO Board of Directors added:

"I am delighted to rejoin the GWO leadership and to represent our members again. Our role as employers and dutyholders for safety in wind places a responsibility on all of us to ensure we create the right standards of training based on the tasks, risks and hazards technicians encounter in their work activities. I look forward to supporting John and working with the membership to create our next strategy."

Jakob Lau Holst, CEO of GWO said:

The Board will provide our Secretariat with leadership and strategic insight, setting long-term objectives and defining the key results they want to see from GWO standards, quality assurance and workforce development programmes. This leadership will help us give value back to the industry, our distribution network of training providers and above all, the workforce building and maintaining the world's wind and renewable infrastructure."
