GWO is playing its part in Global Wind Day today, as the windpower industry celebrates its growing contribution to the worldwide energy mix.
Global Wind Day is a worldwide event that occurs annually on 15 June. It is a day for discovering wind, its power and the possibilities it holds to reshape our energy systems, decarbonise our economies and boost jobs and growth.
"We are keen supporters of Global Wind Day which plays an important role in keeping windpower front and centre of public debate," says Jakob Lau Holst, CEO.
"For our part, the increasing need for manpower goes hand in hand with the rising number of megawatts installed and serviced around the world. The job of windpower technician can be a dangerous job and GWO training standards are an essential part of keeping people safe and more productive at work. It is therefore heartening as we celebrate Global Wind Day 2018, that more than 44,000 technicians were trained to the GWO Basic Safety Training standard in 2017, and we expect considerably more to have done so during 2018 and beyond."
