Technicians trained in enhanced first aid (EFA) moved a step closer after the GWO EFA work group finalized its first draft of the standard.
Haben Zekarias, Training Advisor at the GWO Secretariat, has been managing the Standard’s development with the EFA Work Group since mid-2017.
“The GWO basic first aid module provides guidance on the immediate first aid required to sustain life,” she says. “Enhanced First Aid is intended to stabilize the casualty and allow transfer of the casualty from a remote location to a place of safety and sustained medical attention like the Accident Emergency department in a hospital.”
The Enhanced First Aid work group has finalized a first draft of the standard and will meet again on March 8th with training providers and the German DGUV to discuss feedback and an upcoming pilot test.
The GWO EFA training standard is based on the DGUV ‘First Aid on Offshore Wind Farms’ standard, an English translation of which can be found here:
To ensure correct and necessary medical training including the use of teleconsultation is provided, medical doctors have been assigned to the project.
GWO will provide further updates as the consultation process continues.
