GWO and IRENA will initiate discussions of how global standards can best support skilled workforce development, in line with 2030 targets. Co-publication of the Jobs4RE Workforce Training Guidelines for the Wind Industry is set to follow in 2025.
Global Wind Organisation (GWO) is combining forces with the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) to present “Jobs4RE- Mobilising Global Workforce for Wind Energy” at their joint session on 19th November 2024 at COP29 in Baku. GWO and IRENA welcome all COP29 attendees to participate together in this event. Jakob Lau Holst, CEO, Global Wind Organisation and Sergei Perapechka, Strategic Partnerships Developer, look forward to engaging with colleagues at the session.
Jakob Lau Holst, CEO of Global Wind Organisation, explains:
“The COP29 session GWO and IRENA are co-hosting addresses a growing need for a more readily deployable international workforce of wind technicians, to meet net-zero targets. This Jobs4Re initiative aims to support governments with the necessary tools to align these global standards within the national-level Vocational and Technical (VET) programmes, thereby accelerating renewable energy development by 2030.”
The event will take place at the Global Renewables Hub at COP29 from 15:00-16:15 Azerbaijan Time (GMT+4), Blue Zone, Area E, Pavilion C9 and C11. To see IRENA's full programme, click here.
