The Solar Training Standards Initiative, positioning paper describes the case for standards and outlines the scope and assumptions. GWO has historically focused on skills and competence training for wind technicians, but its membership of OEMs and owner operators have significant interests in other renewable power generation technologies, especially solar PV. This dynamic has resulted in GWO and GSC  joining forces to build on one another’s core competencies, namely project development of training standards at GWO, and broad membership representation in the solar EPC market by Global Solar Council.  This positioning paper outlines a common approach to and outlines the situational context for creating workforce training standards for standards for the utility scale solar PV workforce.
